HyperJuice Qi2 Wireless Charging: The Next Generation of Power
Since 2010, when the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) introduced the Qi (pronounced "chee") standard, the world of technology has witnessed significant advancements in wireless charging. This innovative technology, also known as inductive charging, revolutionized device powering by eliminating the need for cords on devices such as watches and phones.
In October 2020, Apple launched MagSafe for iPhones and AirPods, leveraging technology it had originally developed in 2006 for MacBooks and their power cords. The beginning of 2023 marked another milestone when the WPC announced Qi2, the next generation of wireless charging technology based on Apple's MagSafe technology. This latest iteration ensures that all Qi2-compatible devices benefit from improved magnetic attachment, guaranteeing perfect alignment with their wireless chargers and enabling faster charging speeds.

The Two Key Benefits of Qi2 Wireless Charging
Qi2 wireless charging incorporates MPP (Magnetic Power Profile), a feature derived from Apple’s MagSafe. The innovation MPP provides is using a ring of magnets to align the wireless charging coils perfectly. First, it enhances charging efficiency, allowing fasting charging speeds and secondly, it reduces the risk of overheating.Benefits of Better Efficiency
The magnetic alignment offered by Qi2 improves power transfer efficiency. While many Qi-certified devices offer an efficiency level of 75%, Qi2 wireless charging achieves up to 95%. This translates to less energy loss while charging meaning Qi2 devices generate less heat. This then results in a positive environmental impact, due to significantly less energy wasted, over millions of charging cycles with Qi2 devices.Better Alignment and Positioning
One of the drawbacks of Qi chargers was the need to find the “sweet spot.” As mentioned previously, a big benefit of Qi2 is the magnetic alignment. Not only does this reduce the likelihood of bad alignment, it also means you’ll never go to grab your freshly charged phone only to realize it’s not—because your device somehow became misaligned, and the charging was interrupted. Phones are also secure while being charged, which means you can simply rely on the magnets to keep your device in place. This is particularly useful in cars, as your phone won’t require a bulky holder—the magnets are enough to keep it in place.Improved Compatibility
Qi2 offers a unified charging standard for both Android and iOS devices. While Samsung has yet to announce a Qi2 phone, makers like HMD are launching Qi2 compatible devices. The other advantage hidden in the new wireless technology is that all Qi2 devices are backwards compatible with Qi chargers and devices (albeit, at lower power levels). So, the future looks bright, one where an Android user could borrow a charger from an iPhone owner.Enhanced Safety Features of Qi2
The main safety benefit of the Qi2 charging standard is improved FOD (Foreign Object Detection). This ensures only compatible devices will be charged because Qi2 wireless chargers employ sophisticated algorithms to minimize the chance of damage due to charging non-compliant items. This peace of mind combined with better temperature management and automatic power adjustment while charging means Qi2 technology is leaps and bounds better than its predecessor. So What Does Qi2 Mean for You?
As you can see, Qi2 wireless charging is a significant advancement. For you, it means faster charging, easier use, and the promise of universal compatibility. For the environment, it means improved energy efficiency and the potential to reduce charger waste.Coming Soon! Sign Up to Get Your HyperJuice Qi2 Charging Stand
