FAQs

Please read our FAQs page to find out more.

Does my laptop need Thunderbolt 5 to use this dock?

Does my laptop need Thunderbolt 5 to use this dock? No. While the dock is optimized for Thunderbolt 5, it's fully compatible with Thunderbolt 4, Thunderbolt 3, USB4, and USB4V2. You'll get the most out of it with a TB5 host, but it works across a range of compatible standards. Note: USB 3.x and lower are not supported.

How many monitors can I connect, and at what resolution?

It depends on your OS and hardware. On Windows, you can run up to three 4K displays at 144Hz or a single 8K display at 144Hz. On macOS, display support varies by Mac model — MacBook Pro with M5 Pro or M5 Max can drive up to three external displays, while other Mac configurations support dual extended displays. Chrome OS supports dual extended displays. The display limit comes from your computer's platform, not the dock itself.

Will it deliver the full 140W even when multiple devices are connected?

Yes. The included 180W power adapter is sized to maintain up to 140W to your laptop at all times, regardless of what else is plugged in. Note: full 140W requires a host that supports USB PD 3.1 EPR. Hosts on PD 3.0 receive up to 100W.

What is Thunderbolt Share and how does it work?

Thunderbolt Share lets two PCs connect to the same dock and share files, peripherals, and control — no network required. Just connect both computers to the dock with Thunderbolt cables and you can move files, share a keyboard and mouse, and switch between machines from one desk.

What can I put in the built-in M.2 slot?

The M.2 slot supports NVMe SSDs up to 16TB with no external enclosure required. It runs PCIe Gen 4 x4 (backward-compatible with Gen 3) and accepts M-Key and M+B-Key drives in 2230, 2242, 2260, and 2280 form factors. Compatible modules include NVMe SSDs and PCIe-based AI accelerators.

Does it work with my Mac?

Yes, with macOS 15 Sequoia or later. Compatible with M-series MacBooks and select Thunderbolt 3 Macs. On macOS, display support depends on your Mac model. MacBook Pro with M5 Pro or M5 Max supports up to three external displays, while other M-series Macs support dual extended displays.
